Let's Play
Age: 18 months-5.5 years
Time: About 30 minutes
In this study, we are interested in observing the ways that parents and children naturally play at home. If you choose to participate in this study, we will ask you and your child to play with a toy and/or your pet (if you have one) for about 5 minutes while on a video call with a researcher from our lab. After the play session, we will ask you and your child some questions. We offer a small compensation to our participants in the form of a digital gift card.

What is Fairness? Parent Questionnaire

Playing to Learn!
Age: 3 and 4 years
Time: About 20 minutes
In this study, we are interested in how children learn spatial skills that are important for academic achievement, particularly math! We will ask you and your child to play with a toy for about 10 minutes on a video call with a researcher. After the play session, your child will participate in an online interactive game with the researcher for about 5 minutes. We offer a small compensation to our participants in the form of a digital gift card.

Meet My Friends!
Age: 3-5 years old
Time: About 20 minutes
In this study, we are interested in how children think about equity in social interactions. Your child will hear a series of stories and be asked about how resources should be distributed amongst friends. We offer a small compensation to our participants in the form of a digital gift card.

Building Blocks
Age: 4-5 years old
Time: This study requires two sessions, 6-8 days apart.
Session 1: About 10 minutes, Session 2: About 5 minutes
In this study, we are interested in whether specific emotion labels change children’s representations of an emotion-eliciting event and whether these representations affect their memory a week later. In both sessions, your child will hear a story and be asked about how the characters feel. We offer a small compensation to our participants in the form of a digital gift card.

Storybook Study: Animals Around the World
Age: 4-6 years old
Time: About 30 minutes
Help us understand how parents and children discuss different kinds of animals! In this study, we are interested in observing how parents and children talk about different kinds of animals using a storybook. During a zoom call, we will ask you and your child to read through a storybook together, and we will also ask you and your child some questions about the animals in the book. The entire study will take about 30 minutes. We offer a small compensation to our participants in the form of a digital gift card.
